The last armed rising on British soil happened during one week in April 1820. Those involved were
intent on severing the Union and establishing a radical Scottish republic. It ended in executions,
imprisonments, transportations and 85 trials for high treason.

an MSc in Genealogical, Palaeographical and Heraldic Studies from the University of Strathclyde,
Glasgow, and is an accredited member of the Association of Scottish Genealogists and Researchers in
Archives (ASGRA)
